Today, Samsung lifted the veil of the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S5. The Galaxy S5 features a 5.1 inch 1080p HD display, a new textured backing design, a fingerprint scanner embedded into the home button and some small refinements to the proprietary TouchWiz skin. Samsung has also included 802.11/ac Wifi MIMO technology and have added more LTE bands with Samsung now supporting most of the available LTE bands worldwide. Samsung also included several enhancements promoting health and fitness which seems to be a growing tech trend. Also new to the Galaxy S line is the ability to be waterproof. The Galaxy S5 is IP67-rated for water and dust resistance which translates to having the ability to be submerged in water up to 3 feet for 30 minutes.
The S5 is a tad lack-luster from all of the rumors that suggested things like a full metal body design, a highly reduced skin for TouchWiz and others. However, the S5 seems to build on the foundations laid out by it's predecessors which is all we can expect from future devices. Are you impressed with the new S5? Let us know your thoughts below.
