Microsoft’s Surface Event May Feature A New Windows Experience And Hardware

Microsoft has been releasing teasers about its upcoming Surface event in New York City next month. The Redmond company has sent invitations to members of the press with a different image attached, which features the Surface logo and what appears to be the shape of a processor. The  event will begin at 10AM ET on October 2nd. It’s understood that both Satya Nadella and Panos Panay will be in attendance, indicating that there will be some significant news this year.

Nadella did not attend last year’s Surface event, where Microsoft refreshed the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop lines with a new black option, revealed a Surface Studio 2, and launched new Surface Headphones. Nadella’s attendance this year suggests that Microsoft has something rather significant to announce. This year’s event will focus on new hardware for the holiday season, and some refreshes to the Surface line. The event invite could be hinting at  processor changes, with what looks like a silicon-shaped piece of  aluminum. we may be  seeing more information leaked before October 2nd.

Hardware won’t be the sole focus. If Microsoft is ready to launch an ARM-powered Surface, then we’ll need to know more about how Windows is adapting to work better on that type of hardware. That will possibly include a tease of Microsoft’s efforts toward a dual-screen Surface device, and its Windows Lite plans.
